Communications Manager to Testify

The judge overseeing the investigation into the death of Mango founder Isak Andic has summoned Iñaki Ortega, the Andic family's communications manager, to testify. The move follows a request by the prosecution after an internal communications strategy report was discovered on Jonathan Andic’s seized devices. The report, aimed at "mitigating" reputational damage following the homicide investigation into Jonathan Andic, outlined talking points to unify the family's public narrative, listed key journalists, and highlighted potential advertising investments. According to sources close to the investigation cited by El País, the prosecution now seeks Ortega’s testimony to clarify the plan’s development and intent.

The prosecution is seeking clarity on a communications strategy that anticipated media fallout from a murder investigation.

Jonathan Andic Under Supervised Release

Jonathan Andic, the sole suspect in his father’s death during a hike in Montserrat on 14th December 2024, is currently on supervised release after posting a one-million-euro bail. Since his arrest, official communications regarding his legal situation have been managed by a new consultancy, though Ortega remains responsible for the family’s broader affairs. The Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia’s regional police, found the report after seizing Jonathan Andic’s mobile phone and other electronic devices. Their forensic analysis prompted the prosecution’s formal request for Ortega’s testimony.

More Than 30 Witnesses Called

Ortega is one of more than 30 witnesses scheduled to appear before the Martorell magistrate between late October and November 2026. Among the most significant is José Creuheras, president of Grupo Planeta and a close friend of Isak Andic, who has publicly distanced himself from Jonathan. Creuheras may provide insight into a dispute over Isak Andic’s planned charitable foundation, which was intended to expand Mango’s social initiatives but was never established due to his sudden death. Other witnesses include Mango CEO Toni Ruiz, senior executive Daniel López, lawyers Miquel and Joan Roca, notary Ariel Sultán, and financial director Raquel Delgado. Six Mossos officers are also set to testify, including the two mountain specialists who met Jonathan in Montserrat after the incident, two Emergency Medical System (SEM) personnel who responded to his 112 call, three firefighters, and the municipal security officer on duty in Collbató at the time.
