Police Investigate Two Incidents

The Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's regional police, are investigating two separate cases of alleged intimidation involving female secondary school students near the American School of Barcelona (ASB) in Esplugues de Llobregat. The incidents occurred within a month of each other and have prompted the school to issue warnings to families. The first incident took place at the end of September 2026, when a secondary school student from ASB was reportedly followed and grabbed by an adult man, according to an internal circular sent to parents and seen by Crónica Global. The second incident occurred on Thursday 29th October 2026, when two students from another local school noticed a man staring at them from inside a car after getting off a bus on Carrer del Nord, just metres from the American School.

Location and Timing

Both episodes happened in the afternoon, after school hours, in the vicinity of Carrer del Nord and the restaurant El Picoteig de Can Domingo, approximately 300 metres from the ASB campus in the Ciutat Diagonal neighbourhood. Families involved have filed formal complaints with the Mossos d'Esquadra. The police have confirmed the registration of both complaints and are examining whether the incidents are linked.

Increased Patrols and School Response

The school administration has informed parents that police have confirmed an increase in patrols in the area. In addition, the American School has directed its own security team to pay special attention to streets around the campus during morning arrivals and afternoon departures. The school maintains regular contact with the Mossos d'Esquadra and has committed to updating families if new information emerges.

The centre recommends that parents remind students to stay aware of their surroundings when walking.

Despite requests for comment, the American School of Barcelona had not responded by the time of publication on Thursday 5th November 2026.
