Operation unfolds over two days
On Wednesday evening, officers from the Guàrdia Urbana’s Fenix and Apolo units entered a property in Plaça de la Sènia, L'Hospitalet, identifying four individuals inside. One person was formally investigated for suspected illegal occupation of real estate and electricity fraud, with legal proceedings initiated. Later that night, a district unit returned after discovering the lock had been forced open again. Two more people were found inside and left the premises under police instruction. On Thursday morning, the property’s owner arrived with police escort to begin legal procedures to regain full possession and secure the site against future illegal use.
Over 35 drug dens closed in 18 months
The closure marks the 35th drug den dismantled by the Guàrdia Urbana in the past year and a half. The municipal police force, responsible for local law enforcement in L'Hospitalet, has intensified operations targeting spaces linked to drug trafficking and urban insecurity. The operation was carried out by specialised units Fenix and Apolo, which focus on high-impact interventions in areas affected by public order issues.
Neighbourhood collaboration and inter-unit coordination are key to detecting and responding to these spaces quickly.
Residents' safety prioritised
Dismantling such sites not only disrupts drug distribution but also addresses broader concerns including public nuisance, conflict, and residents’ sense of safety. The Guàrdia Urbana stressed that community reporting plays a vital role in identifying these locations early. The Plaça de la Sènia site had become a known hotspot for drug-related activity, affecting nearby residents. Authorities confirmed the property is privately owned and had been repeatedly occupied without permission. Residents in the area are advised to report suspicious activity via the Ajuntament de L'Hospitalet’s official channels or by contacting the Guàrdia Urbana directly through their public service portal: Guàrdia Urbana | Ajuntament de L'Hospitalet.
