In the Barcelona area, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) will start work next Monday to stabilise a 142-metre slope at the entrance to Valldoreix station, in Sant Cugat del Vallès. The project is aimed at improving safety and access for commuters and local residents using this busy rail link.
The six-week job will treat a slope that measures between 1 and 8 metres in height. FGC says the work is designed to reduce erosion and lower the risk of landslides, helping keep the station area safer for daily users.
A mixed protection system will be installed, combining concrete and an anti-erosion geomesh. The work will be carried out by Talio and will cost €51,998, excluding VAT. FGC president Carles Ruiz said the company has reinforced preventive maintenance to improve the safety and comfort of users. More on the operator is available on the official FGC website.
The slope is directly opposite Institut Arnau Cadell, a local secondary school. FGC and the Entitat Municipal Descentralitzada (EMD) de Valldoreix waited until the school term ended before starting the works, to avoid disruption for students and staff.
Juanjo Cortés, president of the EMD de Valldoreix, welcomed the collaboration with FGC. He said it would dignify a space with nearly 100 years of history and create a safer space for everyone.
