Festivities to feature giants parade and fire run

The Festa Major dels Indians 2026 will take place from Saturday 19 to Sunday 27 September in the Congrés-Indians neighbourhood of Sant Andreu district. The festival coincides with Barcelona’s wider La Mercè celebrations and will include traditional Catalan events such as a giants parade, correfoc (fire run), and community vermouths. Organisers from the Congrés i els Indians neighbourhood association are finalising the full programme. A preliminary schedule has been published by betevé, Barcelona’s municipal media service.


Full weekend of events confirmed

A partial programme has been released, with confirmed events including:

  • Saturday 20 September: morning football and 3x3 basketball tournaments at Institut Alzina and Casal de Barri Congrés
  • 12:00: Opening speech (pregó) by the Congrés i els Indians neighbourhood association on Carrer de Jordi de Sant Jordi
  • 20:30: Correfoc fire run at Plaça del Rom Cremat
  • 22:30: Night of dancing and live music on Carrer de Jordi de Sant Jordi

Sunday 21 September will begin with the planting of giants (plantada de gegants) at 10:30 and a giants’ parade (cercavila) at 11:00, both at Plaça del Rom Cremat. Later in the day, the Falcons de Barcelona will perform at Plaça del Mercat de Felip II at 12:30, followed by a symphonic concert by the Banda Simfònica de Roquetes at 18:00. A confetti battle (guerra de confeti) is scheduled for 19:30 at Plaça del Rom Cremat. Further events, including community dinners and additional concerts, are expected to be announced in the coming days.
