Arrest Follows Client Injury Report
The Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's regional police, have arrested a 28-year-old Colombian woman in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat after a client reported injuries following a liposuction procedure. The victim, also from Colombia, went to the local Mossos station with a medical report showing injuries and the onset of infection. Police investigations revealed the suspect had no proven medical training or authorisation to practise in Spain, despite presenting herself as a qualified professional.
Clandestine Procedures in Tourist Apartments
The suspect allegedly charged around €600 per procedure and used Airbnb-listed tourist apartments as makeshift clinics. These temporary locations allowed her to avoid detection and operate outside regulated healthcare settings. According to the investigation, she also funnelled payments into third-party bank accounts to obscure financial tracking.
The system allowed her to change locations and made it difficult for clients to identify a fixed establishment if they decided to report her.
Activities May Extend Beyond Barcelona
While most of the suspect’s known activity took place in L'Hospitalet, investigators have identified Airbnb bookings in València and Alacant. Authorities are examining whether she carried out similar procedures in those cities. The suspect was questioned and released after being formally summoned to the police station on 22nd October 2026. She remains under investigation for three alleged crimes: endangering public health, professional intrusion, and causing bodily harm. The case was initiated solely after the injured client filed a formal complaint. Police are now working to identify further potential victims and determine the full scope of the suspect’s operations.
