Following violent disturbances in Barcelona on Saturday 24th October, a digital initiative led by Pol Pérez, a former PDeCAT candidate and ex-Convergència official, is aiding efforts to identify those responsible, as Elconfidencial reported.
Pérez launched the platform Cazador de Capuchas on 24th October, with operations beginning the next day. The site uses artificial intelligence to analyse over 200 submitted videos documenting 36 incidents of vandalism. The AI identifies and classifies disturbance locations, which are then mapped on an interactive tool.
The platform received 70 GB of material and documented more than 60 disturbance points. Videos are verified using SHA-256 hashing, and contributors retain access via a private key. The site does not feature facial recognition or public galleries, and submissions are not automatically shared with police.
Pérez, a security and defence analyst and senior consultant at GPA, stated the goal is to support the Mossos d'Esquadra by providing structured evidence. He encouraged the public to submit only material they are comfortable sharing, emphasising that formal identification remains the role of authorities.
The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the incidents through two channels: criminal damage, handled by Investigation Units, and possible organisation, led by the Intelligence Brigade. A Mossos source told Elconfidencial they have not yet received data from the platform but welcomed any contributions.
The website and an associated Instagram channel provide daily updates and allow users to log incident details including location, date, and time.
