Salon looted in early hours of Friday
Desirée and Fran, owners of D' Lady Pink Style hair salon on Avinguda de la República Argentina in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, discovered their business had been broken into when Desirée received multiple missed calls from the alarm monitoring company early on Friday 30th October. The couple found that thieves had used bricks and iron bars, taken from a nearby construction site, to smash the shop window. A towel was used to muffle the noise, according to Desirée’s account. The shutters had been forced but not breached, so the intruders entered through the shattered glass. Inside, the salon was ransacked. The thieves stole €120 in cash and took all the cosmetic and styling products on display, including high-end GHD hair straighteners and facial care items intended for the Christmas campaign. The total value of the stolen goods is estimated at €4,000.
Mossos d'Esquadra investigation under way
The Mossos d'Esquadra were notified just before 5am on Friday. Patrols from the Citizen Security Unit (USC) responded immediately and searched the area, but no suspects were found. The case has been transferred to the Investigation Unit (UI) in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi. Scientific Police officers visited the premises the same morning and collected forensic evidence, including a bloodstain left by one of the intruders. As of 30th October, no arrests have been made in connection with the burglary.
The investigation is ongoing, and all evidence is being analysed to identify those responsible.
Owners fear further damage amid Blocus threats
Desirée and Fran face ongoing anxiety as the broken window will not be repaired until Monday 2nd November, due to delays in the glazing company’s availability. This leaves the salon vulnerable during the night of Saturday 31st October, known as Castanyada, when Telegram channels linked to the Blocus movement have called for gatherings that authorities say may involve vandalism and looting. The National Police and Mossos have confirmed the existence of these channels, which promote disruptive actions in urban areas. On the same day, 30th October, the Civil Guard detained a 25-year-old man in Picanya, País Valencià, identified as a key administrator of several Blocus Telegram channels. Separately, the Mossos d'Esquadra announced the arrest of an 18-year-old man in Barcelona as an instigator of lootings linked to the group, along with the detention of a minor connected to communication channels used during the 24th October incidents. Due to the ongoing threat, Desirée and Fran have asked family members to guard the premises on Saturday night to prevent further damage.
