Residents in El Prat de Llobregat can now reach Bellvitge Hospital by direct bus after the new L22 line started service on Tuesday 1 July 2026. The route is operated within the AMB metropolitan bus network, and the change matters most for patients, hospital staff and families who previously needed more complicated public transport journeys to the reference hospital.

According to AMB Mobilitat's L22 line page, the new line connects El Prat with Bellvitge. The launch was also confirmed by the Ajuntament del Prat de Llobregat and by Hospital de Bellvitge.

The new L22 bus now connects El Prat with Bellvitge Hospital, according to the El Prat council announcement published on 1 July 2026.

Route changes affect six lines in El Prat and nearby areas

The rollout does not affect only the new L22. AMB and El Prat council said the network update also includes timetable or route changes on five other lines: PR1, PR2, PR3, L20 and L78.

  • L22: new direct link between El Prat and Bellvitge Hospital, listed by AMB Mobilitat
  • PR1, PR2 and PR3: local service adjustments announced by El Prat council
  • L20 and L78: metropolitan service changes included in the same update and reflected in AMB's press note

For commuters and patients, that means checking the exact line before travelling rather than assuming older stops and timetables are unchanged. AMB publishes route maps, stop lists and service notices on its website, and BARNA explains how we handle official information in our Source Transparency page.

Hospital and council say the line is aimed at easier access

Bellvitge Hospital, one of the main public hospitals serving this part of the Barcelona metropolitan area, said the new bus has entered service and links El Prat directly with the hospital. The hospital's notice presents the change as an access improvement for people travelling to appointments, work or visits.

El Prat council said in its official notice that the line improves connections between the municipality and Bellvitge. AMB's wider transport update for L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and El Prat also ties the bus changes to broader network adjustments in the area.

Hospital de Bellvitge states that a new bus connecting El Prat with the hospital has entered operation.

What passengers should do now

Passengers should check the current L22 route map, stop sequence and timetable through AMB Mobilitat before travelling, especially if they usually use PR1, PR2, PR3, L20 or L78. Live service updates and disruptions are published on AMB service alerts.

Residents who need municipal information about the change can also consult the El Prat council notice or contact the council through the channels listed on its website. Readers can also find BARNA's editorial standards at Editorial Policy.
