C-58 Resumes Normal Traffic After Fire

A vegetation fire on the C-58 motorway near Ripollet caused significant disruption on Saturday, leading to up to 5 kilometres of traffic jams. The alert was received at 16:23 on Saturday, and emergency services closed the northbound carriageway as a precaution while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, which affected nearby vegetation, orchards, and several shacks, according to the Servei Català de Trànsit and Bombers de la Generalitat.

The fire is now stabilised, with seven ground units and a firefighting helicopter still on standby.

By Sunday morning, the C-58 had reopened and was operating under normal conditions. The incident occurred on a section of motorway that includes a dedicated bus-VAO lane designed to promote sustainable mobility and reduce congestion between Ripollet and Barcelona’s Avinguda Meridiana.

AP-7 Road Checks Lead to Arrest and 15 Penalties

In a separate operation on Saturday morning, Mossos d'Esquadra conducted a large-scale inspection of transport trucks on the AP-7 near Sant Sadurní d'Anoia in Alt Penedès. A total of 35 heavy vehicles were inspected in an effort to reduce accident rates on one of Catalonia’s key transport corridors. The operation resulted in 15 complaints for breaches of driving and rest time regulations, one complaint for lack of ITV (vehicle inspection), one investigation for tachograph tampering, and one arrest for document forgery. This follows a broader strategy by regional authorities to enhance road safety through targeted controls on freight vehicles.

  • 1 arrest for document forgery
  • 1 person under investigation for tachograph tampering
  • 15 complaints issued
  • 35 heavy vehicles inspected

Ongoing Congestion Across Barcelona Road Network

Despite the reopening of the C-58, traffic remains heavy across key arteries in the Barcelona area. The B-20 and Ronda Litoral (B-10) each report around 7 to 9 kilometres of congestion. The AP-7 is also experiencing long delays in both directions, northbound towards Girona between La Roca del Vallès and Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, and southbound towards Tarragona between Barberà del Vallès and Santa Perpètua de Mogoda. The Servei Català de Trànsit reports that one lane remains closed on the AP-7 northbound due to the removal of a vehicle following an earlier accident. Additional congestion is reported on the B-20 and B-10, with lane closures due to collisions affecting flow.

N-260 Closed Due to Collision

The N-260 in Planoles remains closed in both directions after a collision between two cars, Trànsit reported via social media. The closure affects travel between Planoles and Guils de Cerdanya, with no alternative route available for heavy vehicles in the area.
