Single-Vehicle Crash Proves Fatal
A driver has died following a traffic accident on the C-58 highway near Sant Quirze del Vallès on Monday, 24 August 2026. According to the Catalan Traffic Service (SCT), the incident occurred at approximately 7:06 PM at kilometer 14.7 of the highway. The vehicle left the roadway and plunged down an embankment. The driver, who was the only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene despite resuscitation attempts by emergency medical teams.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Five patrols from the Mossos d'Esquadra regional police, four units from the Generalitat Fire Department, and multiple ground units from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) responded to the crash site. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the accident. The Regional Traffic Division of the Mossos d'Esquadra is leading the investigation.
This year’s road death toll in Catalonia now stands at 88, according to provisional data from the Servei Català de Trànsit.
The fatality marks the second traffic-related death in Catalonia that day. Less than two hours earlier, a motorcyclist died in Castelló d'Empúries, Girona, after veering off the N-260 and colliding with a van.
