The Bayreuth Festival Orchestra will perform at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona at 8pm on Saturday 29 August 2026, in what will be its first concert at the modernist venue. For Wagner listeners in Barcelona, the concert opens the orchestra's Spanish tour and provides a rare local performance by the ensemble associated with the Bayreuth Festival.
The appearance will be the orchestra's third visit to Barcelona, according to betevé. Pablo Heras-Casado will conduct the concert, which coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Bayreuth Festival, founded by Richard Wagner in 1876.

Ring cycle excerpts and three soloists
Bayreuther Festspiele, the festival's official organisation, said the programme will comprise orchestral and staged excerpts from Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen, conducted by Heras-Casado.

- Wotan's Farewell and Ride of the Valkyries from Die Walküre
- Forest Murmurs from Siegfried
- Siegfried's Funeral March and Brünnhilde's final scene from Götterdämmerung
The announced soloists are Catherine Foster as Brünnhilde, Klaus Florian Vogt as Siegmund and Siegfried, and Nicholas Brownlee as Wotan.
Barcelona opens five-concert Spanish tour
The Barcelona concert is the first of five dates scheduled between 29 August and 6 September. Bayreuther Festspiele lists subsequent performances in Santander on 31 August, Seville on 2 September, Madrid on 3 September and Valencia on 6 September.
The Palau de la Música Catalana concert is scheduled for 8pm.
