The Barcelona City Council has opened applications for the 21st edition of the 25N Award, a grant of 15,000 euros aimed at supporting new or early-stage initiatives that prevent, detect, and combat gender-based violence. This year’s theme focuses specifically on older women, highlighting the often invisible rights violations they may face in later life. Under the slogan "Free from gender-based violence at all ages", the award seeks to address the compounded challenges of lifelong gender inequality and ageism, which can limit older women’s economic, social, and personal resources when confronting abuse.
Who Can Apply and How
The call is open to individuals over 18, groups, associations, and non-profit organisations based in Barcelona. Applicants must submit innovative projects aligned with the city council’s objectives and comply with the official terms.
The jury will particularly value initiatives that improve prevention, detection, and response to gender-based violence against older women, especially those that bring hidden cases to light.
Applications must be submitted by 28 September at 23:59. The registration period begins the day after the announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona.
