Barcelona Metro passengers will face closures on L1, L4 and L9/L10 Nord this summer as Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), the city’s public transport operator, carries out track, construction and accessibility works.

The most substantial interruption is on L1, where trains will not run between Florida and Plaça de Sants from 17 July to 28 August. The closure affects passengers travelling through the western section of the line, and TMB plans a replacement bus service while recommending Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) services as an alternative.

TMB president Laia Bonet said the summer fall in passenger numbers would be used for works intended to improve comfort and reduce vibration and noise, describing closures as the fastest way to carry them out.

L1 track works and L9/L10 Nord interruption

The L1 works include a full track renewal and modernisation of railway equipment at Santa Eulàlia. The project has a reported budget of €11.5 million.

On L9 and L10 Nord, the section between La Sagrera and Onze de Setembre will be closed from 25 June to 30 August. The affected section will extend to Bon Pastor from 31 August to 6 September.

The works concern the Sagrera macropou construction site and are intended to prepare it for the future entry into service of the lines’ central section. The Generalitat-backed project has a reported budget of €22.6 million.

Verdaguer station on L4 will be out of service from 6 July to 30 August for accessibility works linked to the interchange with L5. L4 trains will pass through the station without stopping.

For the L9/L10 Nord closure, the reported alternatives include bus routes H8, 34 and 126, alongside a replacement bus service.
