Barcelona is marking European Music Day in Les Corts, with the city council backing activities that bring music into public spaces across the district.

European Music Day, also known as Fête de la Musique, is an international celebration that began in France in 1982. It takes place on 21 June each year and invites amateur and professional musicians to perform in public, with free concerts and performances in many cities across Europe. For the official background, see the Fête de la Musique website.

Les Corts is one of Barcelona's ten districts and sits on the western side of the city. The district has around 82,000 residents and includes homes, university campuses and business areas. The council's programme gives local residents and visitors a chance to hear different styles of music in a familiar neighbourhood setting.
