Free Opening Day Marks Two Decades of Art
The Acròbates Festival launched its twentieth edition on Saturday 7th November with a free opening day on Rambla de la Marina in L'Hospitalet. The event brought together artists from past editions to celebrate two decades of poetry and music in the city. The opening programme featured 'Chained Voices', a collaborative performance combining poetry readings and continuous musical acts. Each artist concluded their set by reciting the opening lines of a poem, which the next performer then continued, creating a linked chain of spoken word and music.
"Time Passes, the Word Remains"
This year's slogan, 'Time passes, the word remains', reflects on the festival's history and honours all the poets and musicians who have taken part over the past 20 years. Vanessa Martín, artistic director of Acròbates, said: "All twenty editions have passed, but in the end, the word of all the poets and musicians who have participated in the festival always remains."
Family-Friendly Activities and Full Programme
Children were welcomed with two interactive installations: El Puck cinema, a caravan screening animated short films, and Cadires en Vers, where young attendees could create their own poetry. The full festival runs from Saturday 7th November to Saturday 28th November across squares, libraries, and cultural spaces in L'Hospitalet. Upcoming events include performances by Lara Moreno, Christina Rosenvinge, and Sara Torres on Friday 13th November, Benjamin Prado with Elefantes on Saturday 14th November, and a tribute to Federico García Lorca on Thursday 19th November. Most events are free, though some carry a fee, including the 13th November show priced at €16 and a 15th November screening at €6. Booking is required for certain events, such as the 19th November recital which requires prior registration. Full details and the complete schedule are available on the Auditori Barradas website.
