The Festa Major de la Sagrera 2026 will take place from Thursday 12th November to Sunday 22nd November, filling the streets, alleys and squares of the Sagrera neighbourhood in the Sant Andreu district with traditional Catalan culture and community activities. The Story of La Sagrerina
A central figure in the festival is La Sagrerina, the neighbourhood’s sole geganta, representing a rural water woman from the Rec Comtal fountain legend. First presented in 2003, she was intended to have a male counterpart the following year, but this has never materialised. According to Barcelona City Council’s cultural website, she remains the only single geganta in the city. The festival also includes an alternative programme at Plaça dels Jardins d’Elx, with more details available on Instagram via @lasagreralternativa.
The 2026 edition honours long-standing local institutions, including a tribute to the 60th anniversary of Mercat de Felip II and the 20th of Fundació Sagrera, as confirmed in the official proclamation event listing on ajuntament.barcelona.cat.
Residents are encouraged to check event times and accessibility details in advance. A dedicated space for people with reduced mobility will be available at Jardins d’Elx during the 11:00 AM parade on Sunday 15th November, as noted by the organising committee.
