Expulsion of 21 foreign repeat offenders completed
On Thursday 15 October 2026, National Police officers completed the expulsion of 21 foreign nationals who had accumulated serious criminal records and were residing in Spain irregularly. The operation, coordinated from Barcelona, targeted repeat offenders active in the city and its metropolitan area. Collectively, the individuals had more than 80 police records. Most charges were for property crimes including theft with force, theft with violence, and petty theft. Others faced accusations for more serious offences such as drug trafficking, sexual assault, gender-based violence, and domestic abuse.
Homicide suspect and child abuser among those expelled
One of the expelled individuals was accused of homicide after allegedly stabbing another person to death during a fight in a commercial premises in central Barcelona. Another had been accused of sexually assaulting a minor, the daughter of his partner, with whom he lived. Police stated that prior coordination was required to secure expulsion decrees from the Government Sub-delegation or judicial expulsion orders. Officers contacted all courts where the individuals had pending cases to obtain authorisation. Consular assistance was also arranged to document the individuals for repatriation.
These are criminals who do not respect social values, attack security and freedom, and have made crime their way of life.
Some of the individuals were held at the Aliens Internment Center in Barcelona during processing, while others were arrested specifically for the expulsion procedure. Once judicial authorisations and personal documentation were secured, the detainees were transferred to Madrid.
Repatriation via chartered flight from Madrid
In Madrid, the individuals were handed over to officials from the Central Repatriation Unit of the General Commissariat for Immigration and Borders, who carried out the expulsions via a chartered flight. The operation was conducted by officers from the Provincial Commissariat for Immigration and Borders in Barcelona, the Local Commissariat of Sant Adrià, and the Local Commissariat of Cornellá.
