Street Screenings Bring Fashion to the Public

From Tuesday 20 October to Friday 23 October, residents and visitors can watch live and delayed screenings of 080 Barcelona Fashion shows on a giant mobile screen in four neighbourhoods: Sant Andreu, Glòries, Barceloneta, and El Born. This marks the first time the event extends beyond its traditional venue, offering free public access to a spectacle usually reserved for industry insiders and invited guests.

The initiative, called La 080 en pantalla (080 on Screen), is part of PLEC · Barcelona Cultura de Moda, a new municipal project aimed at democratising fashion. The mobile screen will operate at Plaça de Can Fabra in Sant Andreu on 20 October from 16:00 to 21:30. The following days, it will appear at Plaça de les Glòries (21 October), Plaça del Mar in Barceloneta (22 October), and Plaça Comercial in El Born (23 October), all from 12:00 to 21:30.

Talks and Community Engagement

Alongside the screenings, the event will host public talks with leading fashion figures. On 20 October in Sant Andreu, Fermín + Gilles, creative directors of 080Reborn, will participate in a round table after the screening of their second-hand clothing collection Nòmade. On 23 October in El Born, Custo Dalmau will speak at the site of his first store, reflecting on his journey in Catalan fashion.

We want the front row of fashion to also be for the citizens,

said Nadia Quevedo, municipal commissioner for Economic Promotion, Commerce, Restoration, and the Fashion Plan. Laia Moret, fashion manager at the Disseny Hub and strategic coordinator of the municipal plan, added that the goal is to open up a world that normally excludes the general public, even those willing to pay.

26 Shows and a New Indoor Catwalk

The main fashion programme will feature 26 shows across four days at Marina Seca, a covered industrial space with brutalist architecture used for boat storage. The new indoor catwalk is longer than in previous editions and designed to focus attention on the garments, with minimal staging.

The event opens on 20 October at 14:00 with 080Reborn’s fifth-anniversary show. Other designers presenting include Surkana, Inma Linares, SKFK, Custo Barcelona, Guillermina Baeza, Dominnico, Louis Gabriel Nouchi, Crypta, and David Catalán. The line-up includes both established names and debutants, with more new additions than in any previous edition, according to Marta Coca, head of the 080 Barcelona Fashion project.

An installation in the OpenArea will showcase the evolution of 080Reborn, highlighting its role in pioneering the use of recovered garments on a fashion catwalk since 2022.

PLEC Vol. 1 Festival: Fashion, Music, and Magazines

On 21 and 22 October, the Tinglados of Port Vell will host PLEC Vol. 1, a free festival running from 18:00 to 00:00. Curated by futures analyst Francesca Tur, the event will blend fashion editorials, photography, talks, music, and performances. Admission is free with prior registration via the DHub website.

Publisher Luis Venegas will present an archive exhibition on the history of fashion magazines and hold a conversation with photographer Daniel Riera. Participants include Yolanda Muelas, Edu García Llamas, Mabel Olea, Nicasio Torres, RADIO NOIA, SVSTO, and musician Miqui Puig. The festival also features a pop-up kiosk by Free Time showcasing independent fashion publications, and a tribute to designer Miguel Adrover’s editorial work.

Workshops and Craft Exhibitions

The OpenArea at Marina Seca will host 080Spot_Spain Gallery, featuring around 20 independent fashion and accessory brands. Visitors can join workshops on scarf customisation, fabric experimentation, and glass jewellery making, as well as attend talks on social media and artificial intelligence in fashion.

Next to it, 080_BeyondCrafts will present Ceci n'est pas une sabata, an exhibition on artisanal footwear ranging from traditional espadrilles to digitally manufactured designs. Participating brands include Castañer, La Manual Alpargatera, and Norman Vilalta.
