Construction has resumed this week on the former Quiró clinic site in Gràcia, after work on the redevelopment stopped in 2024 when the contractor went bankrupt. The scheme is planned to provide 83 public housing homes for older people, alongside community spaces intended for Gràcia residents.

For older residents seeking publicly provided homes with support services, the development is planned to add housing designed for later life. Residents of the neighbourhood are also due to gain a community centre, cultural rooms, a courtyard and a communal urban garden under the revised project.

2022 works stopped in 2024

Initial work to redevelop the site began in 2022. It was halted in 2024 after the construction company entered bankruptcy, and has now restarted with a broader plan for the building's interior and an assistance area for people who need day-to-day support.

The former clinic closed in 2007 and was demolished in 2014. The redevelopment covers 11,000 square metres, according to the project details.

Homes, care and shared neighbourhood spaces
