A person was filmed smashing the driver’s-side window of a white Tesla parked beside a McDonald’s in Esplugues de Llobregat, before taking a handbag from inside and running away, according to footage reported by ElCaso on Friday 16 October. The Local Police and Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia’s regional police force, had not confirmed any arrest connected with the reported theft when ElCaso made its enquiries.
For drivers using car parks in Esplugues de Llobregat, the footage shows that the handbag was visible inside the vehicle before the break-in. The reported theft took place in a parking area next to the restaurant, although the report does not give a more precise location.
Footage shows repeated attempts at the Tesla window
ElCaso said it obtained the images from the Instagram account @circuliperladreta. The footage shows an individual approaching the parked Tesla while nobody else is visible nearby.
- The person first struck the driver’s-side window with an elbow, but the glass did not break.
- After moving out of the camera’s view, the person returned at speed and hit the window again until it broke.
- The individual then leaned through the broken window, removed the handbag and left the area running.
ElCaso reported that no information about the person shown in the video had been released. It described the item taken as a handbag left inside the vehicle.
