Arrests Follow August Shooting on Avinguda Mediterrània

The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested six people in Badia del Vallès, a municipality in the Barcelona metropolitan area, in connection with a shooting that occurred on 17 August 2026. The incident took place on Avinguda Mediterrània and triggered an investigation by the Cerdanyola del Vallès police commissioner’s office. According to a Sunday statement from the Catalan regional police, the armed confrontation was linked to disputes between two families involved in the cultivation and distribution of marijuana.

Two Apartments Found With Cannabis Farms

During the investigation, officers identified two apartments that had been targeted in the gunfire and suspected them of housing indoor cannabis plantations. Upon search, they discovered 385 marijuana plants and 106 cuttings across the two properties. The homes were also found to have fraudulent electrical connections not under active contract, with combined electricity fraud exceeding €13,000 due to abnormally high consumption.

The armed altercation originated from rivalry over drug operations, leading us to uncover large-scale illegal cultivation sites.

Timeline of Detentions

  • On 8 September, three men aged 35, 39, and 60, and a 41-year-old woman were detained for public order offences related to the 17 August shootout.
  • The following day, 9 September, two additional men were arrested for crimes against public health and electricity fraud.

All arrests were carried out by the Cerdanyola investigative unit as part of an operation targeting organised drug activity in residential areas.

No Injuries Reported in August Incident

Although no one was injured during the 17 August shooting, the event caused significant alarm among local residents. Police recovered shell casings at the scene but confirmed there were no victims. The town council of Badia del Vallès urged calm, while local political group Som de Badia expressed concern online, demanding transparency and stronger security measures.
