66,248 Eligible Voters in Sant Cugat

A total of 66,248 residents of Sant Cugat are eligible to vote in the upcoming general elections on Sunday 29 November, called by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. This represents an increase of 738 voters compared to the July 2023 general elections, when 65,510 people were registered in the municipality. The electoral roll, compiled from data closed on 1 August 2026, may still be adjusted until 19 October based on claims submitted by residents. The City Council has set up 100 polling stations across 35 polling centres, ten more than during the 2024 European elections.

How to Check and Challenge the Electoral Roll

Citizens can verify their inclusion on the electoral roll by calling the 010 Citizen Services line, using the online form at santcugat.cat, or by sending a WhatsApp message to the City Council's number (93 565 70 00). Those who find errors or wish to request inclusion or exclusion can do so in person by appointment at any Citizen Service Office (OAC) until 19 October.

Changes to Polling Locations

Voters in Valldoreix will see significant changes. Those who previously voted at the Decentralized Municipal Entity (EMD) headquarters or the Valldoreix Cultural Center must now go to the Valldoreix Senior Citizens' Center at Carrer de Tibidabo, 7. In district 2, voters from section 3, who previously used the Maristany Art Center, will now vote at the Justice of the Peace – Civil Registry, Plaça de Barcelona, 17. Voters from section 7 will cast their ballots at La Síndica, Carrer de Francesc Moragas, 32. The National Statistics Institute (INE) will soon send census cards to all eligible voters, indicating their assigned polling station, including updated locations.

Postal Voting Deadline

Postal voting applications can be submitted via the Correos website until 19 November.

The general elections will determine representation in both the Congress of Deputies and the Senate, with Catalonia electing 48 deputies and 16 senators directly.

Supreme Court Blocks Vote for Some Under 'Grandchildren Law'

The Supreme Court has upheld a 10 September precautionary measure suspending the right to vote for individuals who obtained Spanish nationality through the 'grandchildren law', an additional provision of the 2022 Democratic Memory Law, unless they can prove their ancestors left Spain for political reasons. This affects 163,020 people registered in the Electoral Roll of Absent Residents (CERA) who gained nationality under this route. The ruling, issued on 12 October 2026, sides with Iustitia Europa and Vox, requiring individual proof of political exile lineage before voting rights are granted.
