Miquel Sàmper, Catalonia’s Minister for Business and Labour, is leading an institutional trade mission to Morocco from 25 to 30 July, with meetings planned in Casablanca, Rabat and Tangier.
The visit is intended to strengthen commercial links, identify collaboration opportunities and support the international growth of Catalan businesses. For Catalan exporters and companies already working in Morocco, the mission brings the Generalitat’s business delegation into contact with Moroccan public bodies, investment agencies and business organisations.
According to Catalonia Trade & Investment, the delegation also includes Pol Gibert, Secretary General for Business and Labour. ACCIÓ, the Catalan Government’s trade and investment agency, organised the mission through its Casablanca Trade and Investment Office.
Morocco is Catalonia’s leading African export market
Morocco is Catalonia’s 12th-largest trading partner worldwide and its main export market in Africa, according to Catalonia Trade & Investment.
- Catalan exports to Morocco totalled €2.39 billion in 2025, 83% higher than a decade earlier.
- More than 1,600 Catalan companies export regularly to Morocco.
- Catalan imports from Morocco reached €2.25 billion in 2025, an increase of 48% over ten years.
Electrical equipment, plastics, vehicles, copper products and fuels are among Catalonia’s principal exports to Morocco.
