Gradual Relocation Planned by 2030
Salvat Laboratories is to progressively transfer all production from its Esplugues de Llobregat site to its industrial facility in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, with the move expected to be completed by 2030. The decision, part of a strategic plan approved in July, will affect five departments and an estimated 130 to 150 employees, according to union UGT. The relocation will begin with sterile manufacturing, followed by non-sterile and liquid production. The company has initiated a geographical mobility process and will negotiate with workers' representatives over the transition.
Headquarters and R&D to Remain in Esplugues
Despite the industrial shift, Salvat will maintain its corporate headquarters, central offices, and research and development (R&D) activities in Esplugues. The company described the move as a "change in industrial model" aimed at strengthening competitiveness and creating a more efficient production platform. Jordi Muntañola, CEO of Salvat Pharmaceutical Group, stated the company wants to manage the changes "with responsibility, dialogue, and the utmost respect for people." He added that the Alcalá de Henares plant is set to become the group's main industrial hub for future growth.

The union UGT expressed shock at the announcement, delivered just before the Mercè holiday weekend, and said it does not rule out worker mobilisations. The group highlighted that most of those affected have long tenure at the company and form part of production and its associated departments: quality control, quality assurance, distribution, and engineering and environment.
