Renfe launched a new Rodalies commuter rail app on 30 July 2026, giving passengers in Catalonia live information on train times, locations, disruptions, upcoming stops and accessibility.

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility said the separate Rodalies application is intended to help commuters plan journeys and make decisions when delays, service changes or other unexpected problems affect the network. Users can download the Rodalies app from the Apple App Store.

Live train map and personalised journey information

According to the ministry’s announcement, the app includes interactive maps and a live train viewer showing the location of trains currently in service. It also displays the station nearest to the user’s location, along with the times of the next trains.

  • Interactive maps showing stations, lines and nearby services, including bicycle parking.
  • Favourite stations and routes, allowing regular journeys to be accessed from the home screen.

AI search can plan a trip in natural language

The Rodalies app uses an AI-powered search tool that allows passengers to enter an origin, destination, date and time in natural language. Renfe says the system is designed to improve route searches and tailor information to each user’s regular journeys.

The app also offers live tracking for a journey selected by the passenger and a simplified process for buying tickets. The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility said the two new apps for Cercanías and Rodalies are downloaded separately.

Commuters can use the Rodalies app’s live information and incident notices before travelling, then save their usual station or route as a favourite for quicker access to upcoming departures.
