The Poblenou 2026 Fiesta Mayor will take place from 10 to 20 September, bringing a vibrant programme of traditional Catalan culture to the streets of Poblenou, Diagonal Mar, Parc i la Llacuna, and Provençals del Poblenou. Organised by the Coordinadora d’Entitats del Poblenou, the festivities celebrate local heritage with parades, correfocs (fire runs), sardanas, and human towers.
Key events begin on Saturday, 12 September. At 11 AM, the El Loro del 36 Parade departs from Joncar Street, 35. Tram 36 will run through Poblenou distributing whistles. Later that day, at 6:30 PM, the Proclamation Parade starts at Rambla del Poblenou and Pere IV. The El Loro del 36 Parade resumes at 8:15 PM from the same starting point.
Sunday, 13 September, begins at 8 AM with the Matinades, a morning reveille featuring drums, jackdaws, and firecrackers, organised by the Poblenou Entities Coordinator. The event starts at Rambla del Poblenou and Pere IV.
Fire Runs and Human Towers Highlight Week Two
Saturday, 19 September, features the Schools’ Parade at 11 AM, starting at Rambla del Poblenou, 85. That evening, a correfoc takes place at 9 PM in Plaza Delgado, with performances by Aleación del Dragón and Aleación de Diablos del Poblenou. Traffic restrictions will be in place from 9 to 11 PM along the route.
On Sunday, 20 September, the day opens at 10 AM with the XLV Giants’ Gathering at Can Saladrigas, Joncar Street, 35. This event brings together traditional figures from Poblenou and other Catalan towns.
The Diada Castellera at 11 AM on Rbla. Poblenou / Joncar will feature the Colla Castellera Jove de Barcelona and Castellers de Sabadell as guest participants.
At 11:30 AM, the Giants’ Parade begins at Can Saladrigas, featuring Bernat, Maria, and El Loro del 36 alongside other local and visiting figures. The day concludes with the Closing Parade at 8:30 PM, departing from Rambla del Poblenou and Joncar and proceeding toward the beach.
Revival of the Lantern Dance at El Batec del Taulat
The second edition of El Batec del Taulat takes place on 19 September, promoted by the Association of Friends of the Poblenou Cabezudos Troupe. The event centres on the parish of Santa Maria del Taulat and Sant Bernat Calbó at Pujades Street, 210.
At 6 PM, the Cabezudos Parade starts from Rambla del Poblenou and Joncar, arriving at the parish. At 6:45 PM, an indoor display features León de Gracia, Baile de Cercolets de Sitges, Esbart de Sant Martí, and Comparsa de Capgrossos del Poblenou. The dance of festive interludes will also be performed.
The parade resumes at 7:30 PM, returning from the parish to Rambla del Poblenou and Joncar, culminating in the revival of the lantern dance.
Additional activities include stick dancing, bobbin lace, traditional games, choral singing, and habaneras. Concerts and rock matinees, including a tribute to The Ramones by The Airwaves, add to the cultural mix.
