Poble Nou Gets 316-Space Green Parking Zone

New Green Parking Zone for Residents

Starting in early October, the Poble Nou district of Figueres will fully activate a new regulated green parking zone with 316 spaces, prioritising residents, local traders, and professionals. The system, managed by the municipal services company Fisersa, follows a trial period that began on 15 September to help users adapt. The zone is bounded by Carrer Empordà (the Olot road), Avinguda Salvador Dalí, and Via Emporitana. It was introduced at the request of local residents and developed in collaboration with the Poble Nou Neighbourhood Association to improve access to parking near homes and workplaces.

Resident and Visitor Tariffs

Residents and other authorised users will benefit from reduced rates with no time limit: €0.20 for one day, €1 for a week, or €13 per quarter. Payments can be made at parking meters or via the EasyPark app, integrated into the Figueres 360 city application. Non-residents can park for the first 15 minutes free, then pay €1.20 for one hour or €2.55 for up to two hours, the maximum allowed stay. The system operates from 09:00 to 21:00 on weekdays and Saturdays, with free parking outside those hours, on Sundays, and public holidays.

New 25-Space Car Park Opens

Alongside the green zone, a new 25-space surface car park opens on Via Emporitana at the corner of Carrer Tallaferro, directly opposite the Spar supermarket. This replaces parking previously located at the entrance to Carrer Balmes, where construction will soon begin on a new public square named after Josep Maria Bernils Mach, a local historian and former town chronicler. The new car park also operates under the green parking scheme, managed by Fisersa. It is open to all drivers, with the same tariff structure: 15 minutes free, then €1.20 per hour. Parking is free from 21:00 to 09:00 on weekdays and Saturdays, and all day on Sundays and holidays.

Part of Broader Parking Plan

These 25 spaces are part of Figueres’ Proximity Parking Plan, which aims to deliver over 1,000 new parking spaces by 2027. The plan combines larger car parks at city entrances with smaller satellite lots in residential areas facing parking shortages. The Poble Nou green zone joins existing ones near the Old Prison (Presó Vella), around the Dalí Theatre-Museum, and in the Parc Sol residential area. The city council plans to extend the scheme next to the Rally Sud area, also in response to resident demand.
