Eligibility Tied to Income and Residency

Pensioners in Catalonia who receive non-contributory pensions may be entitled to a supplementary benefit of up to €119.67 per month. The Generalitat’s Department of Social Rights and Inclusion confirms this support is aimed at individuals with limited resources who meet specific criteria. The amount is not automatic and depends on the applicant’s personal income. To qualify, individuals must already receive a non-contributory retirement or disability pension and be legally resident in Catalonia. They must not be engaged in any form of paid work. The supplement is designed for those unable to enter the labour market and who require additional financial protection.

Income Thresholds and Housing Conditions

For 2026, the maximum computable annual income allowed to qualify for the full supplement is €1,436.04. The administration will assess each case individually, meaning some applicants may receive less than the maximum monthly amount of €119.67. This threshold is distinct from the requirements for receiving the non-contributory pension itself. Applicants must also meet accommodation criteria. Those living in residential care, healthcare facilities, or correctional institutions are not eligible. However, individuals in supported housing are permitted to apply.

Year-Round Applications and Ongoing Obligations

Applications can be submitted at any time through the Tràmits Gencat portal or in person at citizen service offices. The process is free of charge. Pensioners are advised to review their pension resolution and current income before applying. Once the benefit is granted, recipients must report any changes in their circumstances, such as income, residency, or employment status, within one month. Failure to do so could result in overpayments that must be repaid. Keeping information up to date ensures the benefit remains aligned with the recipient’s situation.

"If you already receive the Minimum Income, you can apply for a complementary benefit,"

states official guidance from the Generalitat, underscoring the importance of proactive application.
