Record Fair for International Integration
On Saturday 24 October, the Maritime Museum of Barcelona hosts the 13th edition of the Barcelona International Community Day, a free event promoted by the Barcelona City Council to support the integration of international residents. This year’s fair features a record 84 exhibitors, up from previous editions, with 45% representing public institutions and non-profit associations, according to the city’s International Welcome office. The event runs from 10 am to 7 pm and requires prior registration. It brings together 19 public bodies, 35 companies, 19 associations, and 11 educational institutions to offer services and advice on legal matters, housing, healthcare, employment, language learning, and relocation.
Expanded Programme of 68 Activities
The day includes 68 scheduled activities focused on integration, professional development, and cultural connection. Sessions cover linguistic integration, volunteering, entrepreneurship, taxation, immigration, and access to municipal services. Barcelona Activa will offer job search support through its Empresa-Ocupació platform and provide professional photography for CVs. Mobile World Capital Barcelona expands its collaboration this year to connect international talent with tech sector opportunities. Debates will explore Barcelona’s technology hubs, labour market trends, and professional networking across industries.
The city’s police and firefighters will also provide safety advice for newcomers, reinforcing public service outreach to the international community.
Cultural and Family Engagement
Cultural activities include live music, stand-up comedy, a Chinese dragon and lion parade, and guided tours of the Maritime Museum. A children’s playroom offers family-friendly outdoor activities courtesy of La Granja ATC. Entities such as the Centre de Normalització Lingüística (CPNL) and the Speak Catalan initiative will promote language integration, while the Plataforma de Festes Majors de Barcelona and the Catalan Federation of Social Volunteering expand access to community participation. The international community represents 26.6% of Barcelona’s population as of 1 January 2026, according to municipal register data. The fair reinforces the city’s commitment to inclusion and practical support for new residents.
