Connect Health to debut at MWC 2027
The 2027 edition of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) will host the first edition of Connect Health, a new programme uniting clinical and care needs with technology. The initiative is driven by GSMA and Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCapital). The event will take place at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue from 1 to 4 March 2027. Organisers say the programme expands the scope of MWC27 and Four Years From Now (4YFN), reinforcing Barcelona’s role as a hub for health, technology, and innovation.
Backing from public and private sectors
Connect Health has the collaboration of the Barcelona City Council, the Generalitat de Catalunya, and the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function. It is supported by sector organisations including the Digital Health Association (ASD), AseBio, Biocat, Farmaindustria, Fenin, and TIC Salut i Social. The programme was presented on Friday 9 October 2026 at a meeting attended by key figures from government and industry.
The new proposal expands the dialogue of MWC27 and 4YFN towards a key sector for people's well-being.
Participants included Jaume Collboni, Mayor of Barcelona; Alícia Romero, Minister of Economy and Finance of the Generalitat; Albert Tort, Secretary of Telecommunications and Digital Transformation; and Laia Ripoll, Head of Business in Spain for GSMA. Also present were Laia Corbella, CEO of MWCapital; Jaume Raventós, president of ASD; Cristina Nadal, president of AseBio; Robert Fabregat, CEO of Biocat; Fina Lladós, president of Farmaindustria; Andreas Förster, president of Fenin Catalunya; Pilar Navarro, Director of Innovation; and Jordi Piera, Head of Research at the TIC Salut i Social Foundation.
