Police in Catalonia are investigating how a bullet ended up inside a residential property in Barcelona’s Sants district, after a resident reported finding the projectile on Sunday morning, 23 August 2026.
The Mossos d’Esquadra, the regional police force, were alerted when the resident filed a report following the discovery in one of the rooms of their home. Officers launched an immediate inquiry to determine the origin and circumstances of how the cartridge entered the dwelling.
Bullet Under Forensic Analysis
Specialists are now examining the ammunition to identify its exact caliber. Investigators are also working to establish whether the bullet was fired or if any gunfire was recorded in the vicinity of the building around the time of the incident.
The Mossos have an investigation underway, and further details are not yet available.
Discovered During Sants Festival
The discovery coincided with the start of the Festa Major de Sants 2026, which officially began on the evening of Saturday, 22 August. The festivities opened with the traditional proclamation, delivered by actress and film director Leticia Dolera at Parc de l'Espanya Industrial at 8:00 PM.
The nine-day street festival, running until Sunday, 30 August, includes over 300 cultural, musical and community activities across Sants. Eleven streets have been decorated by residents and feature their own programmes of events.
Authorities have not linked the bullet’s appearance to the festival, which has drawn large crowds to the area. Previous editions have seen incidents including public disturbances and petty crime, though no specific pattern related to gunfire has been reported.
