Shooting at Affordable Homes in Can Peguera, Barcelona

The Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's regional police, are investigating a shooting incident in the Can Peguera neighbourhood of Nou Barris, Barcelona. Multiple shots were fired at the façade of an affordable housing building on Passeig Urrutia in the early hours of Thursday morning. According to ElCaso.cat, the alert was made just before 1am after residents reported hearing gunshots. Police patrols arrived quickly but found no suspects at the scene and no one injured. Officers collected several shell casings during their inspection, confirming the discharge of firearms. The Unitat d'Investigació (Investigation Unit) from the Nou Barris district station has taken charge of the case.

Possible Clan Reprisal Under Investigation

One working hypothesis is that the attack may be linked to inter-clan retaliation, particularly given the area’s predominantly Roma community. Investigators suggest the gunfire may have been intended to mark territory rather than cause casualties. This marks the fifth shooting incident in the Barcelona metropolitan area within a week. Another occurred days earlier in the same district, following a fight between two groups on Carrer Almansa.

The fact that no one was hurt does not diminish the seriousness of firing live rounds into a residential area.
