Barcelona's Guàrdia Urbana has arrested a man in the Les Corts district following the theft of 42 watches and other valuables worth approximately 15,000 euros from a private residence.
The arrest took place on Thursday afternoon around 4:30 pm on Carrer de la Riera Blanca, when officers stopped a man riding an electric scooter carrying multiple bags. According to police reports, the suspect attempted to flee into a taxi upon seeing the patrol but was intercepted.
During a search of the bags, officers discovered 42 watches, jewellery, decorative knives, lighters, a bank card belonging to another person, and 840 euros in cash. Initially detained on suspicion of receiving stolen goods, investigators later linked the items to a reported burglary at a home in Les Corts.
Trust Exploited in Home Theft
The victims told officers that the suspect had gained the trust of one resident by being temporarily hosted in their home. Once inside, he allegedly stole a significant quantity of personal property.
The items recovered included high-value watches, jewellery, and cash, all of which were later returned to their rightful owners.
As a result of the investigation, the suspect was formally charged with robbery with force in a dwelling. The material recovered, valued at around 15,000 euros, has been returned to the victims.
Judicial Proceedings Underway
The detained individual, who has prior convictions for property crimes, remains at the disposal of the judicial authorities. The case is ongoing, with further details expected as the investigation progresses.
Residents are reminded to remain cautious when allowing unfamiliar individuals into their homes, especially under informal living arrangements.
