The Piromusical de la Mercè, Barcelona’s annual fireworks-and-music finale, will take place at Bogatell Beach on Thursday 24 September 2026 rather than on Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina beside the Font Màgica de Montjuïc.
The change means residents and visitors planning to attend the free closing event should head to the beach in Poblenou. The event listing says the move is required by refurbishment works at the Fira de Barcelona exhibition venue, which are expected to continue until 2029.
Barcelona City Council lists La Mercè 2026, the city’s main annual festival, from 23 to 27 September. The Piromusical falls on the local public holiday of La Mercè, 24 September.
From Montjuïc to the seafront
The Piromusical has traditionally been staged on Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina, next to the Font Màgica. In 2026, the display will instead be launched from Bogatell Beach, putting the fireworks over the sea.
According to the Planomato event listing, the show usually attracts more than 100,000 people. The listing describes it as the event that closes the city festival, combining fireworks with music.

La Mercè’s official programme covers five days and includes around 500 activities, according to Barcelona City Council. The programme includes street arts, popular-culture events and music under the MAC Mercè Arts de Carrer, BAM, Acció Cultura Viva and Música Mercè strands.
