Three New Openings Expand Urban Retail Network
Decathlon has opened two of its new 'City' format stores in Barcelona and Cornellà de Llobregat, with a third set to open in September. Decathlon City Consell de Cent in L’Eixample and Decathlon City Splau at the Splau shopping centre in Cornellà opened in August 2026. Decathlon City Sants, located on carrer de Sants, will open in September. These openings bring Decathlon’s total in the province of Barcelona to 20, and 30 across Catalonia. The three new locations together add more than 1,800 square metres of sports retail space and create over 40 new jobs.
Modern Format Focuses on Convenience and Sustainability
The new stores follow Decathlon’s updated 'City' concept, designed for urban areas, featuring digital enhancements such as electronic shelf labels and improved customer experience. Each location offers in-store pickup within one hour of ordering, supporting local convenience. The stores also include circular service areas offering repair workshops, rental options, and the 'Segunda Vida' second-hand sports equipment programme, aimed at extending product lifespans.
