Chase Leads to Overturned Vehicle
A police chase on the Ronda de Dalt in Barcelona ended in an overturned car and significant traffic delays on Sunday 8th November. The incident occurred during the afternoon between exits 2 and 1 in the direction of Besòs, after a vehicle fleeing from the Guardia Urbana collided with multiple cars, including a white vehicle that flipped over. According to a witness statement reported by Betevé, two girls and a boy were inside the overturned car and managed to exit unassisted. No injuries requiring medical intervention were reported from the occupants of the flipped vehicle.
Fleeing Driver Escapes Towards Santa Coloma
After the collisions, the driver of the fleeing vehicle continued off the Ronda de Dalt and headed towards Santa Coloma, evading immediate capture. The Guardia Urbana, Barcelona’s municipal police force, confirmed they had been pursuing the car prior to the crash. Emergency services, including the Emergency Medical System (SEM) and Barcelona Firefighters, were dispatched to the scene at kilometer marker 15.5 in the Nou Barris district to assist with vehicle removal and traffic management.
The overturned vehicle caused a temporary blockage, but all involved exited safely without needing medical aid.
Traffic Disruption and Recovery
Two lanes of the Ronda de Dalt in the Besòs direction were closed to allow for the removal of the overturned car. Access points 2 and 3 were also temporarily shut down. The closures caused traffic queues extending up to seven kilometres from Barcelona’s outskirts. Traffic flow gradually returned to normal later in the evening after the vehicle was cleared and the road reopened. The Guardia Urbana managed the operation and confirmed the restoration of regular circulation.
