Service Disrupted on Maresme Line
Passenger train services on the Rodalies R1 line have been drastically reduced following the theft of signalling cables between La Sagrera and Badalona stations. The incident has limited operations to just two trains per hour in each direction along the affected corridor. The R1, which runs from Maçanet-Massanes to Molins de Rei and is commonly known as the Maresme or coast line, serves key stations including Barcelona-Sants, Passeig de Gràcia, El Clot-Aragó and Mataró. It connects the provinces of Girona and Barcelona, traversing the metropolitan area and the Maresme coastline.
Reduced Frequency Across the Line
Under normal weekday conditions, the R1 operates with frequencies as high as one train every six minutes during peak hours on core segments. Off-peak service typically runs every 10 to 30 minutes depending on the route section. Current service levels are a fraction of this standard. Delays are now visible across the entire stretch between L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and Maçanet-Massanes, according to real-time updates from traffic monitoring sources.

The disruption impacts thousands of daily commuters who rely on the R1 for connections to Barcelona’s metro, bus, tram and long-distance rail networks. An average of 216 weekday services are normally run using Civia 447 series trains.
