Chamber Expands Regional Engagement
The Barcelona Chamber of Commerce is intensifying its collaboration with local governments in the Maresme region to support economic development and improve business conditions. This follows a series of institutional meetings with town councils, including Sant Vicenç de Montalt, Sant Andreu de Llavaneres, Caldes d'Estrac and El Masnou, aimed at reinforcing ties between the chamber and coastal municipalities northeast of Barcelona. David Antón, president of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce in Maresme, and Ricard Vallespí, its director, have led these discussions. The chamber is conducting outreach across all Maresme municipalities to identify local needs and co-develop targeted initiatives.
Focus on Mobility and Business Efficiency
During the meetings, the chamber presented a regional activation strategy prioritising two key areas: improving transport connectivity and accelerating business licensing procedures. These issues were highlighted as strategic challenges affecting local enterprises. The push for better mobility aligns with broader concerns raised by Josep Santacreu, president of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, who has previously cited persistent infrastructure deficits affecting economic zones in Baix Llobregat and Maresme, including freight corridors and commuter rail services.
The chamber aims to consolidate working spaces with local administrations and drive projects that respond to the territory’s real needs.
The chamber has previously organised training sessions in Maresme to help companies access industrial innovation grants, reflecting its role in supporting business competitiveness through funding and advisory services.
The Barcelona Chamber of Commerce represents over 400,000 businesses across the province and operates through 10 regional delegations, including Maresme. It functions as a public law corporation promoting internationalisation, digital transformation and innovation among Catalan firms. Grant Thornton has recently joined as an institutional partner, part of the chamber’s strategy to build cross-sector alliances and strengthen the regional business network.
