Traffic restrictions are now in force on Avinguda de Cornellà in Esplugues de Llobregat, affecting the section between Avinguda d’Isidre Martí and Carrer de Francesc Moragas until mid-November.
According to the Ajuntament d’Esplugues official notice, the right-hand lane for traffic travelling towards Cornellà is restricted while work continues on a new lane for bicycles and electric scooters. Drivers, including bus drivers, approaching from Avinguda d’Isidre Martí will need to continue to Plaça de la Sardana before turning around.
The restrictions alter a usual turning point on this central route, so motorists heading towards Cornellà should allow extra time and avoid trying to make prohibited manoeuvres at the roundabout.
Left turns and U-turns prohibited at Isidre Martí
For the period of the works, drivers at the Avinguda d’Isidre Martí roundabout cannot turn left or make a U-turn. The council describes this restriction as applying for one month, within the wider works period scheduled to continue until mid-November.
- Restricted section: Avinguda de Cornellà, between Avinguda d’Isidre Martí and Carrer de Francesc Moragas.
- Direction affected: traffic travelling towards Cornellà, where the right-hand lane is restricted.
- Prohibited manoeuvres: left turns and U-turns at the Avinguda d’Isidre Martí roundabout.
- Alternative turning point: Plaça de la Sardana, where vehicles arriving from Avinguda d’Isidre Martí can turn around.
The diversion instruction specifically applies to buses as well as other vehicles coming from Avinguda d’Isidre Martí. They must continue along Avinguda de Cornellà to Plaça de la Sardana rather than turning at the roundabout.
A 1.2-kilometre segregated cycle route
The traffic changes form part of a larger remodelling of Avinguda de Cornellà, one of Esplugues’ main roads. The project includes a continuous, two-way segregated route for bicycles and scooters along the avenue’s approximately 1,200-metre length.
The new route will replace the existing cycle provision on the pavement in the Cornellà-bound direction. It will run from Carrer de Laureà Miró to Esplugues’ boundary with Cornellà.
Drivers travelling through this stretch should follow the temporary lane restrictions and use Plaça de la Sardana for U-turns until the council lifts the measures. The official notice places the expected end of the traffic effects in mid-November.
