Expanded Coverage and Improved Waiting Conditions
L'Hospitalet City Council has installed 26 new bus shelters at locations across the city where stops previously had no cover or were in disrepair. The installations, completed during the summer months, form part of a broader initiative to enhance public transport infrastructure and user experience. The project falls under the city’s bus shelter renovation and installation contract, which includes both upgrading deteriorating existing structures and expanding shelter coverage to uncovered stops. According to the council, over 100 bus shelters will be upgraded by the end of 2026, including six entirely new stops in areas that previously had no bus service.
Focus on Accessibility and Urban Comfort
Bus shelters play a key role in making public transport more accessible, particularly for elderly residents, people with reduced mobility, and other vulnerable groups. They offer protection from weather and contribute to safer, more comfortable waiting conditions. The improvements are aligned with L'Hospitalet’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, which aims to promote efficient, equitable, and environmentally responsible movement within the city. Further details on the plan are available via the city's official mobility portal.

Broader Urban Furniture Renewal
The current contract also includes upgrades to other urban amenities. This year, the city plans to install:

- 22 metro-type advertising panels
- 12 commercial electronic screens
Additionally, 26 outdated municipal information columns will be replaced with 18 modern digital OPI panels, each featuring an LCD screen on one side and LED-illuminated posters on the other. These updates aim to streamline public communication and improve the visual coherence of street-level infrastructure.
