IBI and major taxes held flat in 2027

The municipal plenary of Viladecans (Baix Llobregat) has approved the fiscal ordinances for 2027, freezing the IBI (property tax) and most major municipal taxes. This includes no increases to vehicle circulation taxes, driveway fees, or capital gains tax, all key revenue sources for the local authority. The decision was passed on Friday 30th October 2026 with support from the governing coalition of PSC (12 councillors) and Comuns (2), while ERC (5), PP (3), and Vox (3) voted against. The opposition parties have previously called for reduced municipal tax pressure, particularly regarding waste charges.

Waste fee discounts expanded up to 50%

The most significant change in the 2027 ordinances is the expansion of reductions on the domestic waste collection fee, allowing households to reduce their bill by up to 50%. Two new deductions have been introduced: a gradual discount of 5% to 15% for homes with fewer than three registered residents, and a 10% reduction for participating in a year-long workshop or advisory session on waste reduction at the Viladecans Repara space. The discount for using municipal clean points has increased from 10% to 14%, and will now be applied gradually based on the number of visits, rather than as a fixed reduction after 10 visits. These join existing reductions of 20% for participation in organic composting programmes and 40% for low household income.

Support for single-person households extended

Single-person households will benefit from a change in the income threshold for the 40% waste fee reduction. The reference indicator shifts from IPREM (public income indicator for multiple purposes) to IRSC (sufficiency income indicator), raising the qualifying gross monthly income from €600 to €801.85, a rise of over 33%. Additionally, parking spaces and storage rooms functionally linked to a dwelling will no longer be taxed as separate units from 2027, provided they meet the criteria set out in the ordinance.

Incentives for sustainable vehicles and updated fees

Owners of Eco and Zero-emission vehicles will receive a 75% discount on the mechanically propelled vehicles tax, regardless of engine capacity, making sustainable ownership more attractive. This replaces the previous system of progressive discounts based on engine size.

Cemetery and wedding fees to rise

Not all fees are frozen. The cemetery fee will increase by 2.7%, in line with the Consumer Price Index, as stipulated in the contract with the managing company. Wedding fees will also be updated, set at €130 without a ceremony and €190 with one, coinciding with the opening of a new dedicated celebration space at the recently renovated Fassina Arbolí building in Can Modolell. Residents can find further details on the tax ordinances via the official municipal information page.
