Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's regional police force, arrested a 37-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman in Badalona on Thursday 3 September on suspicion of drug trafficking after raiding a flat on Sèquia Street.
The operation concerns suspected cocaine sales conducted in public near the building, according to information from the Mossos reported by El Periódico. For residents of Sèquia Street, the suspected preparation and storage point has been dismantled and the two suspects have been brought before the court.
Police said their Citizen Security Unit received information that the flat may have been used to store cocaine and prepare individual packets. The case was then taken over by the Badalona Investigation Unit, which identified the property and the people suspected of using it.
Police allege phone orders led to nearby street sales
According to the report, potential buyers would telephone before one of the suspects left the flat shortly afterwards to make a sale in the street, without going far from the address.
Investigators carried out a search of the flat under a court order on 3 September. El Periódico, citing the Mossos operation, reported that officers seized:
- about 78 grams of cocaine;
- €2,373 in cash;
- 17 grams of a substance described as a cutting agent, five mobile phones and equipment used to prepare drug packets.
The two detainees appeared before the Badalona duty court on Saturday 5 September. They are suspected of a drug-trafficking offence, and the report does not state the court's decision following that appearance.
