Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), the city’s main public transport operator, will add up to four articulated buses to part of the V29 route during the summer to increase capacity for beach journeys.

The additional vehicles will operate between Diagonal Mar and Plaça Virrei Amat, close to Virrei Amat station on Metro line L5. For residents of Nou Barris, including passengers travelling from Roquetes, the change creates extra capacity on the route towards Barcelona’s seafront during the busiest beach travel periods.

Two V29 destinations during the reinforcement

According to the Ajuntament de Barcelona’s Sant Martí district notice, the V29 will run with two destinations while the reinforcement is in place. Some services will terminate at Virrei Amat, while the usual services will continue to Roquetes.

  • Up to four extra articulated buses will run on the Diagonal Mar to Plaça Virrei Amat section.
  • The reinforced service is scheduled to operate from 10:30 to 21:00.
  • The measure applies to the summer beach period, including Saturdays and public holidays.

The standard vehicles normally used on this part of the line will be supplemented by the higher-capacity buses, the council notice says.

D20 also receives four additional vehicles

TMB is also adding four vehicles to the D20, which runs between Passeig Marítim and Ernest Lluch. The council says the extra buses are intended to improve capacity on sections serving the seafront and reduce crowding on journeys to and from the beaches at weekends and on public holidays during summer.

V29 passengers should check the destination shown on the bus before boarding, as not every service will continue to Roquetes. Travellers can check current changes and sign up for disruption notifications through TMB’s service status and alerts page.
