€20 Million Investment to Launch in May 2027
Taiwanese contract manufacturer TCI has invested €20 million to establish its first European production and R&D centre in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, near Barcelona. The facility, set to begin operations in May 2027, will initially create 15 skilled jobs, with plans for further hiring as production scales. The 4,250 square metre site was acquired with support from ACCIÓ-Catalonia Trade & Investment, the business growth agency of the Catalan government’s Department of Business and Labour.
Local Production and Innovation Hub
The new plant will focus initially on manufacturing food supplements, including single-dose liquid sachets and functional jellies, product types seeing rising demand across Europe. It will also serve as a regional hub for research and innovation, developing formulations tailored to European consumer preferences and regulatory standards. The centre will house three laboratories, production areas, offices, and a client showroom. It marks TCI’s first owned production facility in Europe, complementing its existing commercial operations based in the Netherlands since 2019.

AI, Robotics and Sustainable Operations
The facility will implement digital production management systems using artificial intelligence and robotic automation. It will also adopt energy efficiency measures and carbon reduction strategies, replicating TCI’s sustainable model from its Taiwan operations. The Barcelona location will support not only the European market but also TCI’s North American operations, leveraging the city’s logistics connectivity to shorten shipping times to the US East Coast compared to shipments from Asia.

TCI, headquartered in Taipei and founded in 1980, operates as a contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) for food supplements and skincare. It serves nearly 1,000 brands across 68 countries and holds over 2,600 patents and trademarks. The company reported revenues of approximately $220 million in 2025 and employs 1,000 people globally.
