Smart Ports: Piers of the Future Returns to Barcelona
The Port de Barcelona will host the 8th edition of Smart Ports: Piers of the Future on Tuesday 3rd November 2026, bringing together startups, investors, and international experts to advance maritime innovation. The event forms part of Tomorrow.Blue Economy and runs alongside the Smart City Expo World Congress, focusing on turning pilot projects into real-world port solutions.
Key Questions for the Blue Economy
Smart Ports will tackle how ports can transition from experimental stages to full implementation of new technologies. Organisers will examine how industry demands can connect with startup innovations and what blue economy ventures need to attract investment. The day will feature pitch sessions and investor panels, culminating in the Blue Economy Investor Day. This session will explore how innovation in ports can generate economic returns, industrial competitiveness, and sustainable impact.
Showcasing Barcelona’s Innovation Ecosystem
The event will highlight initiatives led by the Port de Barcelona, including results from New Latitude and Lighthouse, innovation and acceleration programmes promoted by BlueTechPort and the Fundació Barcelona Port Innovation. These programmes aim to create a supportive environment where ideas evolve into impactful business projects. The Port has already drawn 22 companies into its BlueTechPort ecosystem, many of which are testing prototypes along 50 linear metres of the Barcelona Nord wharf.
Blue Economy Report 2026 to Be Launched
