Work Starts Tuesday on Critical Road Repairs
Starting Tuesday 29 September, Barcelona City Council will begin repair work on the seaside carriageway of Passeig de Sant Antoni, between Carrer de Tarragona and Plaça de Joan Peiró, to address soft spots and cracks in the road surface. The intervention is deemed essential for road safety. The project, costing approximately €2.1 million, will last seven months and involves waterproofing the slab, repairing structural elements, installing new drains, and replacing the road’s wearing course. Overhead cabling will also be buried in a section of Carrer de Tarragona.
Phased Works to Minimise Disruption
Vehicle traffic will be maintained throughout the works, with two lanes kept open, one in each direction, at all times. The first phase will occupy the seaside lanes, followed by the central and then mountain-side lanes in subsequent stages.
Pedestrian routes will remain guaranteed. However, the bus stop serving lines H10, V5, 27, 78, 115, and N3 will be temporarily relocated to the Llobregat side of Carrer del Rector Triadó. The works on Passeig de Sant Antoni coincide with a change to the station’s drop-off zone. From Tuesday, the drop-off point will move from Plaça dels Països Catalans to Carrer de Viriat on the mountain side of the station.
These improvements are vital to ensure long-term safety and stability of the roadway above the station’s underground structures.
