Store Smashed and Looted Overnight

Thieves broke into an Orange mobile phone store on Carrer Santiago Russinyol in Sant Cugat del Vallès in the early hours of Sunday, 4 October 2026. They smashed the glass frontage, entered the premises, and stole an entire display unit containing around nine devices. The incident occurred in the town centre and has been confirmed by the Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia’s regional police force, who have opened an investigation.

Repeated Attacks Despite Security Upgrades

A worker at the store told ElCaso.com that this is not the first time the shop has been targeted, having previously been robbed in February 2026 and in earlier years. In response, the store has upgraded security with alarms, cameras, and a metal shutter on the door. However, the shutter does not cover the side glass, which was exploited during this latest break-in.

It's non-stop, we've had to improve security.

The employee reported that despite these measures, break-ins have occurred on both Saturday and Sunday nights. Other shops on the same street have also reported similar incidents and have been forced to strengthen their own security. The store has not yet filed an official complaint due to slow administrative procedures, but all losses are covered by insurance, limiting financial impact.

Police Investigation Underway

The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the incident as a criminal break-in and have access to security footage from the store, which has not been released to media outlets to avoid compromising the investigation. According to the latest delinquency report published by the Ajuntament de Sant Cugat, crimes against property in the municipality decreased by 12.54% in 2025, but break-ins at commercial premises have risen from 32 cases in 2024 to 44 in 2025.

Residents and business owners in Sant Cugat can report incidents or access support through the Mossos d'Esquadra crime report portal or the local police station.
