Barcelona residents will get an inside look at the daily operations of the city’s Urban Guard with the upcoming premiere of On Duty (Torn de guàrdia), a new docuseries set to air on betevé next Sunday, 4 October 2026, at 21:30 CEST.
The eight-episode series, produced in collaboration with BCN Media Hub, uses body-worn cameras to immerse viewers in real-time police interventions across the city. Filmed from the officers’ perspective, it captures the challenges faced by different units during routine and emergency operations in Barcelona.
A preview screening was held on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, at Cinesa Diagonal, attended by senior municipal officials and Urban Guard leadership. Among those present were Barcelona Mayor Jaume Collboni, Third Deputy Mayor Albert Batlle, and the chief of the Urban Guard.
Immersive View of Urban Policing
On Duty aims to increase public understanding of the complexity and demands of urban law enforcement. By following officers on patrol, responding to incidents, and engaging with the public, the series highlights the varied roles within the Urban Guard, from traffic enforcement to public order and community support.
The series offers a transparent, real-time window into the work that helps keep Barcelona safe every day.
The production team worked closely with the Urban Guard to ensure authenticity while respecting operational protocols and privacy standards. Each episode focuses on a different aspect of the service, showcasing both high-pressure situations and routine duties.
Local Audience Access
Residents can watch On Duty for free on betevé, Barcelona’s municipal television channel, available via digital terrestrial television (DTT) and online at betevé.cat. Episodes will also be available on demand after broadcast.
