Arrest follows violent street theft
On Sunday, 30 August at around 8:30 p.m., a 22-year-old man was arrested for robbing a pedestrian on Carrer d'En Mònec in the Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera neighbourhood of Ciutat Vella. According to reports, the suspect assaulted the victim in the middle of the street and ripped a gold chain from their neck.
The off-duty Mossos officer followed the suspect without losing sight, while alerting colleagues to respond.
An off-duty officer from the Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's regional police force, witnessed the attack and immediately began tracking the suspect. While maintaining visual contact, the officer contacted fellow officers to dispatch a uniformed patrol.
Swift intervention leads to arrest
The suspect was intercepted shortly after the robbery, not far from the scene, thanks to coordination with the Urban Crime Group. He has five prior police records and is formally accused of robbery with violence. No details have been released about the suspect’s nationality.
